CALIFORNIA COALITION FOR COMPASSIONATE CARE

SHD has a leadership role with the California Coalition for Compassionate Care, a statewide partnership of more than 50 regional and statewide organizations dedicated to the advancement of palliative medicine and end-of-life care in California. Members include lead partner California Healthcare Association, AARP, California Department of Health Services, community EOL coalitions, nursing home associations, health ministry networks, senior organzations, and many others.


Through an intitial grant from the The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and subsequent grants, the California Coalition for Compassionate Care supports the following initiatives:

• Skilled Nursing Facilities
• Professional Education
• Public Engagement
• Hospital-based programs
• Public Policy

SHD Executive Director Marge Ginsburg co-chairs the Coalition and Associate Director Kathy Glasmire chairs the Public Engagement Initiative.
